Peer Support Services

Peer support is gaining acceptance as a valuable part of service delivery in the mental health profession and community-based services. The Peer Support Specialist is integrated with the Community Support Services Team. The peer support specialist may be able to connect on the same level as the client, offer information and guidance from within the person’s frame of reference and help the client navigate the services to obtain income, housing, employment treatment and social support. Peer support may be particularly valuable for people who mistrust or may not be comfortable with professionally delivered services.
